SI-PASS has spread widely and is currently used at 1 500 higher education institutions in over 30 countries.

SI-PASS was launched in the 1970s at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) in order to increase student throughput in “difficult” courses. The International Centre for SI is based at UMKC.
